Question by hokiedokie24: Can fiberglass tubs be refinished instead of being replaced??
Can my fiberglass tub and walls be refinished instead of replacing the whole thing?? The tub has a crack in it but the thing I am most unhappy with is the tub’s color is not the same as the walls.

We routinely refinish bath tubs. You can go to MAB paints and buy the materials. We use a power sprayer and hook up a window fan to exhaust out while spraying. The fumes are very flamable so be careful that you minimize the spraying a vent the room well.

You can sand between coats with 2000 grit wet paper that you purchase at an auto paint store such as NAPA.

The final coat is clear coat and it requires a hardner. The finish is “rock hard” and good as new.

The cost is about $ 65 a tub with sidewalls Plus about an extra $ 25 for a can of thinner to clean with.

Question by Info Sponge: Do I need to paint the fiberglass body/tub of my Jeep?
I have this great Jeep Scrambler, but it has been out of commission due to rust. I’ve finally saved up enough to buy a new fiberglass tub. The tub is in white, which is the color I want anyway. Do I still need to have it painted? Is there a gloss coat I could put on it?

Yeah, you need to paint it; the fiberglass corrodes like anything else unless protected. Check with a local paint shop for options.

Question by rocknsnugglepug: how do you paint a fiberglass tub?
i want to paint my CJ-5 jeep tub a fluorescent/john deer green using spray paint or cheap can paint but don’t know if it will work on fiberglass. we were going to use rustoleum but it says it does work on fiberglass but if it moves it will chip and crack and break off. of course a car body’s going to bend and move a little. does anybody have any suggestions other than getting it professionally done???? thanks!
